Remember My Name is a non-denominational community memorial where we honor those in the Richmond region who have lost their lives too soon due to domestic and intimate partner violence.
During the memorial, family members, friends, and community members will have the opportunity to speak on behalf of the victims and share their stories. And, we stand together in a call to action to end future abuse since nearly one-third of all homicides in Virginia are attributed to domestic or intimate partner violence.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Lakesha Woodson-May, President of Got 2 BMC (Got to Be More Careful). She started Got 2 BMC to support women and children who have lost family members to domestic violence, and raise awareness on gun and domestic violence within the Richmond community. While recognizing those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, Lakesha will share her own story as a survivor, shedding light on the importance of addressing domestic and intimate partner violence in our region.
