WHAT WE DO
We provide programs that promote racial, social and economic equity for women, girls and their families.

YWCA Richmond’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DVSA) program has been a lifeline for survivors, providing critical support to overcome barriers and rebuild their lives. Survivors find not only safety, but hope, stability and a path forward through DVSA’s services.
As the state-designated provider of crisis response services for Richmond and surrounding localities, YWCA Richmond is the only organization in our region offering a comprehensive continuum of domestic and sexual violence services that include a 24-hour Regional Hotline, emergency housing, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management, court accompaniment, housing and employment support, Regional Hospital Accompaniment Team, financial assistance, and referrals.
Provide educational programs to help prevent violence
YWCA Richmond provides violence prevention education to children, teens, young adults, and families to stop violence before it occurs. We use evidence-based and evidence-informed curriculum to create interactive and effective prevention programs.

Community Workshops
Currently, we offer single-session and multiple-session workshops on a variety of prevention topics.

Empower RVA Teens
Empower RVA Teens is a teen dating violence awareness and prevention program for high school aged teens.
Advocate for social justice and racial equity in our community
We advocate for women, children, racial equity and social justice based on the following core beliefs:
- We believe that everyone has the right to live in a safe and violence-free home.
- We believe that all children deserve access to the path to educational success.
- We believe that all women cannot be empowered if we do not address the issues of racism.
- We believe that women working together across lines of difference can transform and improve life for all women.

Empower women by creating leadership opportunities and recognizing women's achievements
Established by eight women in 1887, YWCA Richmond is living proof of women empowering themselves to make lasting social changes. We carry on that legacy today through the Outstanding Women Awards, Pat Asch Fellowship for Social Justice and many more programs.
Provide quality early childhood education and infant care through the Sprout School
We believe providing affordable, high quality early childhood education and infant care programs in a diverse and integrated environment promotes racial, social and economic equity for women, children and their families.
The Sprout School is an inclusive, diverse, and immersive experience for children of all backgrounds to come together and discover the joy of learning while fostering social and emotional development. Our mixed-income model uses a private-public partnership to provide high quality, full day, full year child care.
We also offer childcare to our domestic and sexual violence survivors in our care.
