2026 Teen Summit
Join Empower RVA Teens, YWCA Richmond's high school peer educators, for their second annual summit for 7th & 8th Graders!
This year’s summit is titled “Growing Into Me: Learning to Love Myself and Others“.
We’re partnering with Peter Paul Center and Virginia League for Planned Parenthood to host an day of learning and connection. The summit aims to support middle schoolers with the knowledge and skills to foster healthy relationships.

Keynote presented by Virginia League for Planned Parenthood (VLPP): “Rooted & Real: Digging Deep to Shine Bright“
- How do you stay grounded when people, media, and our negative thoughts tell you to change? In this 60-minute co-facilitated session by Dr. Shaashawn Dial and Tiyana Lewis of VLPP, we’re getting into the “soil” of self-esteem and body image. Learn how to protect your peace, celebrate your body, and grow into the person you’re meant to be—no filters required.
The summit will include three teen-led breakout workshops:
- Healthy Relationships 101 – Identifying the signs of healthy vs unhealthy relationships
- Consent & Boundaries – Practicing consent skills like setting boundaries and receiving a “no” in an everyday context
- Exploring Identity – Reflecting on the parts of our identity and the impact of social norms/expectations
Spanish interpretation for this event will be provided by Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center.
