DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT SUPPORT
YWCA Richmond’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DVSA) program has been a lifeline for survivors, providing critical support to overcome barriers and rebuild their lives. Survivors find not only safety, but hope, stability and a path forward through DVSA’s services.
As the state-designated provider of crisis response services for Richmond and surrounding localities, YWCA Richmond is the only organization in our region offering a comprehensive continuum of domestic and sexual violence services that include a 24-hour Regional Hotline, emergency housing, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, case management, court accompaniment, housing and employment support, Regional Hospital Accompaniment Team, financial assistance, and referrals.
Survivor Support Services
YWCA serves all people regardless of race, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, faith, sexual orientation, disability, or English language ability in the Greater Richmond region. All services are free and confidential.

Emergency Shelter
We provide emergency shelter for survivors of domestic and sexual assault survivors in Richmond and Chesterfield.

Hospital Accompaniment
We have trauma informed R-Hart volunteers to accompany survivors to hospitals.

Counseling
We provide private and group counseling services for survivors and their minor children.

Case Management
Our team of experienced case managers are available to provide individualized care management services to help survivors navigate complex community resources.

Legal Advocacy
Our legal advocates help survivors navigate the complexities of legal system by accompanying them to court.

Prevention & Community Outreach
The YWCA Richmond Prevention and Community Outreach team hosts training, workshops, and resource fairs for diverse communities across the Richmond Metro area focused on education and empowerment. Topics addressed include recognizing healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, knowing the most common signs of domestic violence and abuse, identifying various forms of sexual violence, and sharing information through Empower RVA Teens.
