Liz Doerr Receives 1st Richmond Rising Outstanding Woman Award

April 4, 2017

YWCA Richmond awarded Elizabeth “Liz” Doerr with the first ever Rising Outstanding Woman Award  today at the 2017 OWA Women’s Leadership Forum Breakfast at 8:45 a.m.  The award was presented by the YWCA’s Young Women’s Leadership Alliance (YWLA) and sponsored by Capital One and McGuireWoods LLP.

The Rising Outstanding Woman Award recognizes a woman between the ages of 25- and 35-years-old who shows outstanding promise for continuing service and leadership. Doerr will receive a $2,500 stipend for professional development to further her community impact.

“Liz embodies a Rising Outstanding Woman,” Cassie Cunningham, YWLA chair, said. “She has a fervent passion to give back and a clear drive and vision for how she wants to solve community issues.”

Doerr is a Director at NRV, a Richmond-based venture capital firm investing in early stage startups located in Virginia. At NRV, Doerr has been involved in starting Women in Venture, a statewide initiative aimed a growing the number of female investors in venture capital.  This year, Doerr was elected as the 1st District representative on the Richmond School Board.

“I believe the best way I can honor the spirit of this award is to continue to do my part to identify community challenges and to be a part of the solution,” Doerr said. “Those opportunities include anything from promoting women in private investing and philanthropy to ensuring the success of every child by improving our public schools.”

The Rising Outstanding Woman Award is YWCA Richmond’s newest addition to its 130 years of programming to empower women of all ages in the Richmond region.

“It is critical that emerging leaders, like Liz, do not go unrecognized,” Linda Tissiere, chief executive officer of YWCA Richmond said. “At YWCA Richmond, we use our Outstanding Women Awards events to applaud the achievements of women and inspire Richmond with their dedicated service.”

YWCA Richmond’s 2017 Outstanding Women Awards will celebrate eight women of influence in the Richmond region on April 28, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Conventional Center. More information is available at www.ywcarichmond.org/owa.
